Building Your Offline Marketing Consulting Business
Want to start your own Offline Marketing Consulting business but have no clue how? Or perhaps you’ve purchased some of the “expert” material floating around the Internet and have discovered that they leave a lot out? Or you’re still struggling to get your first client.
In the last two years, Offline Marketing Consulting has become a new trend. Everyone is trying to meet with business owners and sell them a website or SEO consulting or PPC, or some other nonsense.
Some may do ok for awhile and then they suddenly crash an burn and have no idea what happened.
So they try to purchase some of the Offline Marketing ebooks, videos and other materials available on the Internet. Believing that $7 ebook, or $27 seminar or $47 video is going to be the answer to their problems.
Let me share a little secret with you…
There’s nothing new about Offline Marketing. I’ve been doing it since the days of DOS and BBS. (This was the equivalent of Windows and the Internet, today.) In other words I’ve been doing this for a little more than twenty years.
I’ve been consulting with small business owners and professionals since the early 80’s. I say this not to impress you. I say this to tell you that anyone with real experience is not going to sell their knowledge and expertise for $7 to $47. Especially when I can command $2500/hr from a small business owner for a phone consultation or sell them a $6000 video website.
If you were earning this kind of income would you be trying to peddle a $7 to $47 on the Internet? Wouldn’t make sense for you to waste your time doing that, would it?
This is where new consultants go wrong. They listen to people who have very little experience or expertise. And, they end up losing a lot of money or leaving a lot of money on the table.
Recently, I spoke to a consultant who claimed to have been an Offline Marketing Consultant for ten years. I reviewed one of his videos. I reviewed what he was doing and what he was teaching others to do. This is what I discovered…
- His sales conversions were very low because he wasn’t offering his clients what they wanted to buy. Instead he was trying to impress them with SEO, Social Marketing and PPC.
- He was leaving a lot of money on the table simply because he didn’t understand how to monetize his relationship with his clients.
- He was selling his services too low. He believed that his clients would only pay $500 for a website. Therefore he wasn’t making the money he could have made.
- He was trying to sell them useless Social Media plans which included Twitter, Mspace and Facebook.
- He was selling his clients the wrong type of website. They looked “pretty” but for the small business owner they were “pretty useless”.
- He had no clue how to generate high quality referrals for himself.

Even in this economy it’s not very difficult to sell a website for $6000 and more. I recently had to stop accepting new clients for two months because I was so backlogged that my staff couldn’t keep up. I currently have a waiting list of more than 75 small business owners ready to spend money but I have to wait until I can hire more staff.

I realize that I could offer this program for a lot more than this. Real estate investors are paying more than $15,000 to attend a seminar to learn how to “flip properties” and get themselves deeper into debt. They’re paying as much as $25,000 for a personal consultation which amounts to them speaking to a protege.
But I have an ulterior motive…

I mentioned previously that I had to stop accepting new business because of the flood of new clients. It wasn’t because I didn’t have enough staff to create the websites and videos. It was because I didn’t have enough licensed Offline Marketing Consultants to work with the influx of new business.
